AN EVENING OF POETRY, TRADITIONAL LIVE MUSIC, CONTEMPLATION & INDIAN FOOD

11 Mandeville Place, London W1U 3AJ
Saturday 28 June 2025, 7.00pm - 9.00pm

You are invited to an enchanted evening of soul-stirring poetry from traditions of East & West including - Sankara, Kabir, Mirabai, Sri Brahmajna, St Francis of Assisi, St Teresa of Avila, Rumi, Khalil Gibran, Mahmud Shabistari and others.

The evening will include live traditional music, contemplation & silence. In the interval there will be provided a delicious vegetarian Indian meal.

Come and immerse yourself in some of the most beautiful words ever written on the subjects of Wisdom, Love, Beauty & Silence.

Interwoven between the live poetry readings, traditional styles of music will be performed by the vocalist ‘Ruhiya’ and her accompanying musician.

This gathering invites you to sink into the heart’s deepest knowing – where love and silence meet.

‘There is nothing to acquire, nothing to add to who we are. Rather, the contemplative’s attentive silence is a turning toward their true nature.’  - Roger Housden

The performance space will be open from 6.45pm with the event itself starting formally at 7pm.

If you want to speak of the ineffable and the essential, there is no better medium than poetry. Poetry is the language of the spirit and the soul, not of the discursive mind. It compresses the lived truth of the poet's experience into a beauty and wisdom that can slip under the skin of the reader and enter their bloodstream. When you don't know what to say you cry out, and those cries are the beginning of poetry.

- for lovers of god everywhere
