The course offers reflecting on the spiritual rhyming couplets of the Masnavi (interpreted by Sufi mystic Ken’an er-Rifai), which is the philosophical interpretation of Koran, wherein Rumi explains his own Truth, that is, the Truth of the Completed Human Being.
The Masnavi begins with the word “Listen” and starts with the story of Reed Flute (“Nay”), the symbol of the Prophet Mohammad as the Completed Human Being in Islamic Sufism, which points to the philosophy of Unity (”Tevhid”).
Rumi’s spiritual couplets tell many stories about topics including Being Human, Truth, Love, Freedom, Courage, etc. even though Rumi points to “Love” being the fastest way to overcome the hurdles in the journey of becoming a completed human being.
We will reflect on the tales of the Masnavi, what Rumi told about Love and Unity and how we can apply them in our daily lives.
Classes will be held at our beautiful building, 11 Mandeville Place, London W1U 3AJ
