The Masnavi, the greatest work of RUMI and his interpretation of Qur’an, begins with the word “Listen” and starts with the story of Reed Flute (“Nay”), the symbol of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the Completed Human Being in Islamic Sufism, which points to the philosophy of Unity (”Tevhid”).

The course uses the book “Listen” which consist of commentaries of Kenan Rifai on the first volume of Masnavi.

The spiritual couplets of Masnavi tell many stories to awaken us about topics including Being Human, Truth, Love, Freedom, Courage, Surrender, etc. even though Rumi points to “Love” being the fastest way to overcome the hurdles in the journey of becoming a completed human being. The couplets show us ways which we can experience Love and Unity in our daily lives.

Come and join us. Like the whirling dervishes of Rumi, with one foot grounded in the centre and the other foot moving to turn, we will reflect on our lives with the help of the Masnavi, with one foot in our Being and other in the stages of our Becoming.

“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come.” RUMI
