Freedom from Trafficking Anna Arthur
Anna will talk about modern day slavery; the poverty, ignorance and other factors that fuel it and the devastating consequences, drawing on the work of the Croydon Community Against Trafficking (CCAT.)
Anna is an arts administrator with nearly 30 years of experience. Her work in theatre and contemporary dance includes managing venues, festivals and companies. She is the Founder and Director of Croydonites Festival of New Theatre and a Trustee of Croydon Community Against Trafficking
Freedom from Crime Ejay Okeke-Deroy
From her work as a psychologist Ejay has to delve deeply into the Nature of serious addicts and criminals and these studies have revealed the major part played by lack of care in the early years, caused by poverty and ignorance.
Ejay is a Psychologist with a BSc and a Master degree in Psychology and Psychiatry from King’s College London. Ejay has provided psychological interventions for both young people and adults in the area of addiction, crime and mental health for over 10 years. She has worked in Her Majesty’s Court Service and Justice system for over 7 years.

Council tax causes inequality both on an individual household and regional scale, and is a major drain on the finances of poorer households Stamp duty is outdated and a severe block to household mobility. Fairer Share offers a cure for both.
Andrew has spent more than two decades investing in micro, small and medium-sized businesses. In 2008, he founded The Woodhaven Trust to support initiatives that provide offenders and ex-offenders with pathways into employment and self-employment. The Trust has gone on to support causes that champion progressive tax reform and teach leadership skills to young people.
In 2020, Andrew founded Fairer Share, a national initiative campaigning for the abolition of Council Tax and Stamp Duty and the introduction of a Proportional Property Tax. An Enterprise Fellow at The Prince’s Trust, he also founded the Liberal Democrat Business & Entrepreneurs Network.

The role of care work and community wealth building and radical industrial strategy in building a just, democratic and sustainable economy. The Centre for Local Economic Strategy CLES.
Isaac is a Senior Researcher at CLES. He works on a range of topics, with a particular focus on care work and alternative forms of economic development and industrial policy, in the UK and beyond. His previous work has spanned policy, civil society and academia. Prior to CLES he worked on inclusive innovation and industrial policy at Nesta, which involved work with governments and international organisations in South America, South East Asia and across Europe. He started his career as a community organiser with Citizens UK, in his native east London.

How can education provide young people with the resources to discover the best of their humanity and develop their talents to the full as they emerge into responsible adulthood? What are the foundational principles for such an education and can they really work?
Laura is a former Headteacher of St James Senior Girls’ School (1995-2014) and a Schools’ Inspector. She is the Director of St James’ Education UK (2014-present), a Consultant in Educational Development, and a Governor of Reading Blue Coat School. Outside the world of education, she is a qualified life coach.
