Peace. Illumination. Inner stillness and rest. The inspiration of good company. A chance to meet fellow students in beautiful surroundings. Our next Practice and Study Day at Waterperry House, Oxfordshire is not to be missed!
These termly events have proven very popular, often selling out with up to 40 attending. Several return term after term.
The event is designed to be suitable for students at all stages of their journey with practical philosophy, from the first term onwards.
The fee includes lunch and coffee/tea.
We draw inspiration as our theme for the day from this description from the Katha Upanishad, depicted in a beautiful painting at Waterperry.
“Self rides in the chariot of the body, intellect the firm-footed charioteer, discursive mind the reins. Senses are the horses, objects of desire the roads. When Self is joined to body, mind, sense, none but He enjoys. When a man lack steadiness, unable to control his mind, his senses are unmanageable horses. But if he control his mind, a steady man, they are manageable horses.”
We will consider the relevance of this message to our lives today, and to our work in the world. During the day, we will hope to gain some insight into how understanding the proper relationship between Self, body, mind, senses and where the work is taking place can bring about efficiency, happiness and freedom.
