International Economics and Law Conference 2025
Regular price From £70.00 to £480.00The Inner and Outer Dynamics of Economics and Law
Nanpantan Hall (UK) and Online
Friday 22 to Thursday 28 August 2025
The ancient Vaiśeṣika Sūtra defines dharma (natural law):
‘Dharma is that through which there is the accomplishment of prosperity and freedom’
A supreme challenge today is to formulate laws and economic policies that bring about prosperity and freedom for everyone. There are many formulations springing from good intention, but injustice, poverty, conflict and environmental problems abound.
Meeting this challenge requires reconnection with the natural laws that bring prosperity and freedom for all, the hearts, minds and lives of those in community and nation, and the ability to visualise and express what is true today for everyone.
This conference will consider how to: reconnect inner world of principle and understanding with the outer worlds of practicality, establish the appreciation that economics is centred on our humanity, bring forward laws under which all can live naturally finding prosperity and freedom.
Delegates will enjoy presentations, workshops, study, discussions, casual conversation, and our traditional poetry evening. Good company is guaranteed!
Presentations: Some informed, sometimes provocative, presentations with opportunity for discussion. Plenary sessions combine the forces of economics with justice and law, other sessions specialise. Contact soon if you wish to present something.
Workshops: Last year’s successful innovation will develop further. All delegates are invited to join one of the topic workshops for the week, devoting some time each day in study and preparation for a final presentation. One day is devoted to a workshop field trip; for in-person delegates, this will further explore life in the city of Litchfield; for those online, something similar in each delegate’s locality.
Economics: Will focus on the real problems faced by communities and nations, considering how reconnection with principle and natural law is possible, and ways this can be communicated through policy and education.
Law: Will consider where justice lies in the nation state, given that this is simply a family writ large, and is in turn a microcosm of humanity. Humanity can be lifted up by good laws, formulated by wisdom which we hope to develop and share.
