To celebrate 700 years since the death in exile of the great Florentine poet Dante Alighieri, two talks will be given by webinar on Tuesday 14th September at 8.00pm UK time.

  • Arthur Farndell will speak of Dante’s significance, with special reference to some of his early works.
  • Andrew Sisson will consider Dante’s great epic, The Divine Comedy, which describes the poet’s pilgrimage through Hell (Inferno), Purgatory (Purgatorio), and Heaven (Paradiso), and show how all three realms originate in and are pervaded by Love.

Quotations from Dante’s Italian will be read by Fresia Curry, Maria Liberata di Loreto, and Giorgio Rebollini.

The event is expected to finish at 9.30 pm.
