The theme of the weekend is the practice of quietening the mind to consciously enjoy life more fully. We will practise allowing whatever is in front of you to be your teacher and working with precise attention and connection through the senses.
The weekend is designed for those attending a retreat for the first time as well as those who would like to attend again. The retreat is open to those attending a Philosophy course from Part 1, and students find that coming together in the beautiful house and gardens at Waterperry in the Oxfordshire countryside is an enjoyable atmosphere in which to practise living a philosophical life.
The aim is to build on the approach taken in the philosophy classes and provide the opportunity to experience:
There will be twice-daily quiet times to meditate or practise the Exercise, regular pausing, practical work sessions to practise the concepts, study sessions with other students, and opportunities for group reflection and feedback to maximise the learnings.
The house is managed by the School where all activities such as preparing meals and house cleaning are carried out by the students and tutors.
