Nanpantan Hall (UK) and Online
Friday 21 to Thursday 27 August 2026
This School was born in the search for Truth and Justice in a world of inequity and despair. That search progressed beyond the normal realms of economics and law into the world of philosophy and Advaita Vedanta. This brought an all-embracing perspective of unity to the study of economics-with-justice and law.
Some four decades ago the School received a letter, from the Shankaracharya Sri Santananda Sarasvati, with this challenging suggestion:
“The brilliant and sharp intelligence of the School based on the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta should be utilised on the following subject: Establishment of Justice and Equity for the welfare of humanity in the Universe now.”
This conference will address how this challenge can be taken further. Can we formulate a vision of what ‘Justice and Equity for the welfare of humanity’ means, and in ways that inspire and bring hope?
Plato and scriptural study will raise the spirit and sharpen the endeavour.
Presentations will inform, challenge and stimulate discussion. Contact Peter Holland soon with offerings; space is limited.
Workshops focus on particular topics related to this challenge. Delegates select and join a topic workshop for the week, devoting some time each day in study and preparation for a final presentation. One day will be a ‘field trip’; those at Nanpantan visit a relevant locality whilst those online explore the topic from the perspective of their locality.
So much of the world is still locked in inequity and despair. Consider today’s youth as they look forward to a life of uncertainty and lack of noble inspiration; given everything we have received in our lives, are we able to offer them hope and purpose?
This promises to be a rewarding occasion, and not just for attendees.
All current students attending the School, or related Schools around the world, are welcome, with classes and workshops for beginners and those more experienced in the subject. We look forward to enjoying your company.
